AARP Community Challenge

AARP Community Challenge has brought downtown so many amazing improvements. Making Main Street more accessible, easy to navigate, and enjoyable to all. Thanks to our volunteers we were able to note where improvements can be made to make out downtown more accessible. The wayfinding signage throughout main street is a reflection of that.

Not only did AARP Community Challenge Grant give us the ability to make downtown more walkable, but they also funded beautification projects to make it more enjoyable. Through the grant, we were able to hire local artist to paint flower pots and three murals. Local Artist, Zaida Stewart, painted fun, colorful designs on some of the flower pots we have along the sidewalk. The "Greetings From" Mural is painted by Juan Ledesma. Located on Magnolia Street and Orange Avenue, this mural welcomes tourist and locals to Arcadia's downtown. The Citrus Wings and Floral Swing Murals, located on Monroe Ave. South, are painted by Rita Hamrick. The two interactive murals are a fun addition for all to enjoy when they come to downtown to shop, dine, and attend events.

We like to thank AARP and Toyota Motor North America for make this possible. This grant has improved our downtown in more ways than one; including, bringing our community together.
